Comment on Conquer Blossom End Rot and Save the Harvest by Peggy K. https://gardenbetty.com/save-the-harvest-how-to-fix-blossom-end-rot/comment-page-1/#comment-68295 Thu, 11 Jul 2024 11:48:07 +0000 https://gardenbetty.com/?p=21089#comment-68295 There are so many misconceptions in gardening, thanks for debunking one myth here. Another one—putting ground-up eggshells in the soil will increase the calcium. It will not. Eggshells are calcium carbonate, which does not dissolve in water. Intact eggshells have been found in archaeological digs that were 325 years old. While some slight chemical reaction may occur, it will only change the calcium levels very slightly. And now we know you don’t need that extra calcium anyway!

Comment on Homemade Soy-Free Corn-Free Chicken Feed With Whole Grains by Jeremy https://gardenbetty.com/homemade-whole-grain-chicken-feed-updated-and-now-corn-free/comment-page-3/#comment-68205 Tue, 09 Jul 2024 18:28:50 +0000 http://gardenbetty.com/?p=6363#comment-68205 Hello! I recently bought all of these(that I could find with one exception triticale) and it feels really rewarding and like I’m accomplishing something good!

My question is you updated this once from the corn to this version, a few years later do you still use this recipe, or, have you found a few things to switch up for their health? thanks <3

Hi Linda. Be sure when telling people about “sets of true leaves” they know the difference between cotyledons and leaves. 🙂 Sounds odd, if you never had plant bio or were new to growing from see, you wouldn’t know the difference. 🙂
